Thymalin

Thymus peptide extract

Thymalin is a peptide preparation extracted from thymus tissue, from the same Russian research tradition as Epitalon and Pinealon.

Regulatory status: Not a medicine in the US or EU. No controlled clinical trial of it has been published in the international literature.

A thymus-derived peptide preparation from the same Russian research tradition as Pinealon and Epitalon. It is a mixture rather than a defined molecule, and the published work has not been independently replicated.

Where these numbers come from

Community convention

No published study reports a dose for this compound in people. The figures here exist only so the calculator can run — they are not a recommendation. Thymalin is a thymus extract rather than a defined molecule, and its literature comes from one research tradition.

Reviewed October 2026

What it is

  • An extract rather than a defined molecule: a mixture of peptides obtained from animal thymus, so composition varies with the preparation.
  • Promoted on the basis that the thymus drives T-cell maturation and shrinks with age.
  • Distinct from thymosin alpha-1, which is a single defined peptide with its own entry and a far better evidence base.
  • Sold as a research compound.

How it is described to act

  1. 1

No published human pharmacokinetic study describes how it is absorbed or cleared.

  2. 2

As a mixture, there is no single molecule whose fate could be tracked.

  3. 3

The proposed mechanism is restoration of thymic signalling and T-cell function; this is a hypothesis from the originating group.

  4. 4

No outcome has been measured in a controlled trial.

What the research has looked at

What is published

  • The literature comes almost entirely from one research tradition, published in a small number of Russian journals, and has not been independently replicated.
  • Pep-Tidy has not been able to identify a randomised, placebo-controlled trial of Thymalin in the international literature. Rather than cite papers loosely, this entry says so.

The better-studied alternative

  • Thymosin alpha-1, a single synthetic peptide, has a substantially larger evidence base and approvals in some countries. It is a different compound, listed separately.
  • Claims made for Thymalin are often supported by pointing at thymosin alpha-1 research, which describes a defined molecule rather than an extract.

Strength of evidence: Preclinical evidence only

No controlled human trial has been identified. What exists comes from one group and has not been replicated independently.

What is published comes from cell and animal studies. Findings in those models frequently do not carry over to people.

Reported cautions and unknowns

  • No controlled human safety data exists.
  • Being an animal tissue extract rather than a synthetic molecule, purity and consistency depend entirely on the preparation.

References

There are none. A search of the published literature returns no studies of this compound — no human trials, no animal work, no cell studies. Anything claimed about it elsewhere is not drawn from published research on this molecule.

Handling this vial

  • Lyophilized vials are generally stored at 2–8 °C and kept out of light; once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water they are refrigerated and commonly discarded after 28 days.
  • Mix by aiming water down the vial wall and rolling gently — do not shake — and never re-freeze a reconstituted vial.
  • Pep-Tidy cannot verify what is in your vial. Ask your supplier for a current Certificate of Analysis (HPLC/MS).

Thymalin questions people ask

How do you reconstitute Thymalin?

A common starting point for a 10 mg vial of Thymalin is 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, which gives 5 mg per mL. Aim the water down the inside wall of the vial, let it dissolve on its own, and roll gently instead of shaking. Pep-Tidy's reconstitution calculator will recalculate the numbers for any other vial size or water volume you use.

How many units of Thymalin is one dose?

At 5 mg per mL, that works out to about 200 units on a U-100 insulin syringe for a 10000 mcg dose. Change the vial size, water volume, or target dose in the calculator and the syringe reading updates with it. This is arithmetic, not a dosing recommendation.

What dosing schedule is reported for Thymalin?

Published and community sources describe No published human dose, intramuscular, every day, typically run 0 weeks on. These figures describe what has been reported, not what anyone should take — talk to a licensed clinician first.

How should Thymalin be stored?

Lyophilized Thymalin vials are generally kept at 2–8 °C and out of light. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water they are refrigerated and commonly discarded after about 28 days. Never re-freeze a reconstituted vial and never shake it.
